‘Surrealism’ is a project that developed from exploring the photography of Jacques-Andre Boiffard. Starting as a book, it evolved into an exhibition of photography. Unfortunately, the exhibition had to be cancelled because of COVID; however, certain photographs had previously been exhibited in 2019 at the Same Difference exhibition in Charleston. The techniques used to create the visual imagery included darkroom experimentation using enlargers, 35mm photography, and playing with digital imagery. The front cover page came from experimenting with the viewfinder of a Super 8 camera and taking images through that as a manual filter. The branding was based on the blurred type, which is critical to the visual language and the highlighting of the real-life aspect of surrealism.
